Magnar,

Wim and Luc, (and any other members here). I will be most happy to walk with you up this mountain, and show you the area here too.

Luc,
wanneer vertrekken we? :D ;)

Can also be arranged :) I have had gardening friends visiting here many times and there are lots to see, both nature and gardens. Have even had buses with people here from the Swedish garden society Trädgårdsamatörerna. Within reach here we have both the Arctic Alpine Botanic Garden in Tromsø, and the famous Lofoten Islands

Coleoglossum viride
Magnar, is this the "Grönkurle" ???, in "Den nya nordiska Floran" from Bo Mossberg and Lennart Stenberg it is called Dactylorhiza viride (or D. viridis on internet). Do you now what is the right name?

Yes it is "grønnkurle" as we spell it in Norwegian. Coleoglossum viride and Dactylorhiza viride are synonyms, and I really don't know what might be the current "valid" name. Will these bothanists ever agree ;D
-
Pim: I must point out that to find a rich flora like this in Norway you have to be on limestone. Much of the Norwegian mountains are very hard granite like rocks and with a rather acid soil. In these mountains there will be much less species to see.
-

Hummm , it is getting interesting Magnar :D 8) Tromso is on my wishlist to !
Thanks for the beautiful pictures , I like them all.

The easiest way to get up here is by plane.. and we have so much nature to show that you don't need to see any on the way :D
Amsterdam, via Oslo to Harstad is a flight time of ca 3,5 hours.. And I know I would not like to travel by bus all those kilometers

another Silene acaulis

Sorry, I was busy and didn't notice this posting till now.
Yes, the Silene is growing in sand but not close to the sea, It is 530 meter up from sea level, The white sand is from the limestone rocks in that area.
-
I was in the mountains fishing trout a couple of days ago, Not any more plant pics as I was busy fishing, and also in an area with less species. But a couple of nature sceneries for you.
-
I definitely have to go back to Norway Magnar ! It's simply too beautiful ! ;D
Was the fishing ok ? did you catch any trout ?? ;)

Yes it was, especially when a thunderstorm was passing. Caught 11 nice fish which tasted delisiously for breakfast and dinner the next day. And even some in the freezer for another occation.

No problem. Bedankt.
