BLOEI IN DE SCHADUW - 2011

Wim, de Astilboides komt het beste tot zijn recht in grotere groepen, maar je moet wel de ruimte hebben.
Ook zaaien ze zich soms uit in de schaduw. Ik heb nu een vrij grote groep en steek er soms wel een stuk van af omdat andere planten in de verdrukking komen.
Maar dat gaat gemakkelijk. Voor mij geeft het een beetje een exotisch tintje hier in deze winderige streek

Oh ja, de Leucosceptrum hoeft met zulk mooi blad van mij niet per se te bloeien.

Heel speciaal Magnar. Meconopsis is heel moeilijk in cultuur in Nederland, want te hoge temperaturen. Een enkel soort zoals 'Lingholm' kunnen we van zaad tot bloei krijgen. Dus ik ben we jaloers op jouw prachtige M.

Very nice Meconopsisspecies, Magnar, are they difficult in cultivation?

Mecomopsis in general are easy to grow here om North Norway, we seem to have the right climate for them, and also for other Himalayan plants,  not too hot and not too dry. I can't say if these two are more easy or difficult than other Meconopsis. But M. punicea is monocarp, which is a pity.

Yes, I know. In inland south east Norway they also can have problems many  places with growing Meconopsis, and they have found Lingholm to be the easeist one. In the north we can keep the perennial species for years. My oldest plant of M. bertonicifolia must be more than 12 years old.

Yes. I agree. M x MArit is so far the best white flowering Meconopsis I have seen. Its a big plant and with big flowers. It is a hybrid that occured in a garden in Tromsø, and is named after Marit, the owner of the garden. She told me once which plants were the parents, but I have forgotten that now. Since it is a hybrid it sets no viable seeds. This gives a long period of flowers, which is nice, but it also means that it can only be propagated by division.

Hello Magnar, Please do us a favour and take some pictures from the M. species, you grow in your garden, and post them here. In our countries M. can be seen rarely. It would be interesting en instructive for us to learn and see more of those stunning plants.

Hallo Magnar, zou je ons een plezier willen doen en wat foto's maken van de M. soorten, die in je tuin groeien en ze hier laten zien?.
In onze landen kun je M. zelden zien. Het zou interessant en leerzaam zijn voor ons om wat meer kennis te nemen van deze fantastische planten.

I'll be most happy to show you my Meconopsis.. and I start with M. quintuplinervia. True perennial,, mat forming and thus easy to propagate.

Nog eens een plant voor in een schaduwrijker gedeelte van de tuin, of op vochtige bodem in de zon, het kan alle twee, is deze Astilbe 'Vision in red' met een intens donkerrode kleur.
